The Beach

A great day at the beach

A great day at the beach

This morning, we hit the beach.

What a difference from last week. Seven days ago, this was made from soft, crushed coral, the sea was turquoise and the drinks were cold.

Today? The bluey-brown ocean of the Severn Estuary, more fried food than you could shake a stick at, and the inevitable rain.

In spite of the clouds, sections of the beach were busy; Packed with families trying to make the most of the fact that the sea wasn’t out on the horizon.

We walked a good way along the sand, chatting and (in the Offspring’s case), intermittently running in the sea, collecting shells and jumping on the remains of other peoples’ sand castle building efforts.

One pitstop for coffee, smoothy and A1 triple chocolate fudge cake later and it’s time for us to trundle to our bus stop.

Yes, it’s good to be back home.
