Thank You And Goodbye

Palms, sparkling sea and blue sky

Palms, sparkling sea and blue sky

Tomorrow, we are due to fly home.

As we lie in our super-king bed, staring at the blue ocean and the very blue sky, the family considers the highs and lows of our trip to Mexico.

The good points? Many and various. Turtles, swimming in the sea, shopping in the junk shops for ‘genuine’ Mexican souvenirs, sunny weather, being together, friendly people.

Downsides? Very little. The pony in the trailer incident upset me quite a bit, but aside from that, the only thing we can really think of is something small. Mosquitos. We have tried everything to combat their repeated attacks on any exposed flesh, but all to no avail. I’ve given up on DEET. And DEET mixed with lavender. I think they like it. I now use spray on Savlon, which has slowed them up, but makes me smell like a hospital.

Anyway, back home tomorrow. To a house that is going to reek of cat, especially as the temperatures have been so high. Hopefully, our pet sitter has managed to catch any other creatures that the boys have seen fit to bring in out of the heat.

Thank you, Mexico.

See you again, soon.
