Covent Garden Meets Cancun

StarbucksYesterday we ate cactus. Today? McDonalds. Topped up with Starbucks. That’s the beauty of Mexico. Something new, something old. Always a surprise.

And the biggest surprise was the prices. A couple of years ago, shopping in the touristy bits of Cancun was expensive. This year? Worse.

Feeling in holiday mood, we felt ice cream was in order and headed off to the Haagen Daz shop at La Isla shopping mall. £20+ for three (small) ice creams! Phew. We licked the tubs clean.

Ten minutes later, we decided to indulge in a trip to the henna tattoo stall, outside the Aquarium. The chap did a fabulous job of artistically painting my mosquito bitten ankles and decorating my daughter with a dragon. My husband’s arm was turned into a Celtic artwork. Total cost? c. £45.

Add to this a £20, ten minute bungee jump for my daughter, a c.£75 return cab journey back to our hotel in Puerto Morelos and it all adds up to an expensive (but enjoyable) day out.

Adios Amigos!

And for this burnt out old tourist too……your loving husband ….I had to take one of my little blue pills to cope with it all 😊
