Puerto Morelos

Watching the world go by ...

Watching the world go by …

Puerto Morelos. If you’re looking for bright lights, glitzy shops or the Hard Rock Cafe, you won’t find it here.

But if you like peaceful, small town life, where you can sit in the town square and watch the world go by, this is the place to be.

Mexican families sit in the cafes and watch the pelicans fishing. There’s only one general store, as far as we know. And this is like a time capsule, firmly set in the 1960’s. But with a slightly more modern cash register (not a till).

Even the junk shop owners leave you alone and you can spend hours in their shops, more or less hassle-free.

The roads are atrocious. How the cars survive the pot holes, is a mystery.

So, if you’re fed up of Cancun’s big city feel. Come and see a slice of the real Mexico.
